You wouldn’t expect to call your local friendly electrician and ask him to make you a pair of curtains, you wouldn’t go in to your local bakery and ask them to do an oil change on your car. So why do so many businesses think that they don’t need a designer, or a photographer or a copy writer and they will do a better job themselves?

I’ve spent nearly 18 years battling the tide on this question. The marketing industry seems to be one where all our years of training and development, decades of experience all seem to count for nothing. Everyone is a website designer, everyone is a social media manager, everyone is an expert but not everyone is getting the results?

Just because we make it look easy, doesn’t mean it is. Isn’t that the skill of a talented professional? I deal with so many companies that have lost faith in websites, social media and marketing in general, because they have not seen the instant results that they expected. If you don’t do it right, it’s like opening your shop in the middle of a field at 2-4am in the morning and wondering why you have no customers.

Our little band of happy creatives are not just here to fill up a bit of space in Yellow Pages, we are here to help you make the best of your business, release the potential in your brand and help you make more money. So next time you write that press release for the paper that doesn’t ever seem to get used, or take that new product photo on your phone, spare us a thought that maybe, just maybe, we could do a good job.
